Warranty Information
In its forty-three years of building homes, Whitworth Builders, Inc. has developed a special pride in the quality of its workmanship in delivering to the families of Northwest Florida the most livable homes in the area. Driven by the desire to satisfy its customers, Whitworth Builders, Inc. sought out the best warranty available for homebuyers – the ten year warranty offered through Bonded Builders Home Warranty Association.
Just as not every home warranty company qualifies to provide care to Whitworth Builders customers, not every builder qualifies to become a member of Bonded Builders Home Warranty Association. Whitworth Builders sought out the home warranty company which would take best care of its customers. In its turn, Bonded Builders Home Warranty Association only services those companies which build a superior product and have the technical competence and financial stability to take care of their customers.
Coverage
During the first year of the warranty period on your new home will be free from:
- Defects in materials and workmanship, defined in performance standards attached to your warranty, except defects in appliances, fixtures and equipment which are not covered by the warranty.
- Defects in electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems as defined in the performance standards including the wiring piping and ductwork portions of the systems.
During the second year of the warranty period on your new home will be free from:
- Defects in electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems as defined in the performance standards including the wiring, piping and ductwork portions of the systems.
Major Structural Defects
The warranty also provides for major coverage for Major Structural Defects, which occur during the ten-year term of the warranty. Subject to the limits provided by the Warranty, BBHWA will repair or replace a covered major structural defect or pay the home buyer the reasonable actual cost of repair or replacement. Repair of the major structural defect is limited to:
- The repair of damage to the load bearing portions of the covered home, which is necessary to restore its load bearing ability.
- The repair of damage to the load bearing portions of the covered home, which make the home unsafe, unsanitary, or otherwise unliveable.
BBHA is responsible to you, the Homeowner, for total liability of all Major Structural Defects arising during the ten-year term of coverage. Liability is limited to the amount of coverage not to exceed the original purchase price. Repair and/or replacement do not extend to the Warranty Term.
A “Major Structural Defect” is actual physical damage to load bearing portions of the home. The actual physical damage must affect the load bearing function to the extent that the home becomes unsafe, unsanitary or otherwise uninhabitable and the repair will be limited to ensure only that the covered home is restored to a condition approximating the condition just prior to the defect, not to a "like new" condition.
